The "Diesel Witch" plays a leading role in the Petromax company history: During an adventure trip with a Magirus Deutz, built in 1963, Jonas Taureck has a breakdown in the middle of the African desert. He has to recharge the vehicle's batteries. Instead of electricity, he finds the forgotten HK500 high-intensity lamp in a brightly lit desert village in Niger. This is the second birth of Petromax: Jonas Taureck brings the brand rights and production back to Germany to renew the traditional brand.
Proven expedition vehicle
The Magirus-Deutz truck was a popular expedition vehicle. It was rugged, maneuverable and roomy enough to carry supplies on a multi-week tour. Jonas Taureck's vehicle still had an air-cooled Deutz four-stroke diesel engine¬ for a tour across the African continent, much better suited than the modern water-cooled, much more heat-sensitive, diesel engines.
Attention to detail
Collectors' hearts beat faster at the detailed model. The miniature version of the "Diesel Witch" is a front-wheel drive, the wipers are part of the body and the front fenders are equipped with dipsticks. Running boards, headlights, door handles, trim, a large roof rack and a spare wheel - ¬all as on the large original vehicle. Even the license plate matches: The "MD" stands for Magdeburg, the location of the Petromax company.
To mark the 100th anniversary of the HK500 high-intensity lamp, Petromax is releasing the legendary "Dieselhexe" as a 1:43 scale model car. The special model with the characteristic dragon logo and stylized images of the HK500 is unique and limited.
